Hi all. Thought I would give this forum a try and see if it grows. I'm and 80-year-old kid/husband/great grandfather/hunter/fisherman trying to make it to 90 šŸ˜Ž. I love playing around with muzzleloading rifles and have more than any sane person needs. Maybe someday we can add a "Muzzleloaders" category to the Forum List.

Worked with Muzzleloaders a lot when I was young...
Deer season for Muzzleloaders and bows was weeks earlier than regular season, and my dad wanted every one of us kids in the woods to harvest 'food' before others got them.
You couldn't put the guns up loaded, and there was only one way to 'unload' them :(...
Cleaning them with soapy water after every hunting trip was a major PIA, even if we never saw a single deer.
I have evolved into newer times and technology.:)
Edit: Oh I forgot, I also have a bunch of stored info about them...
This one in 58-caliber ruled in accuracy:

If it rained, your cap never got wet. :)

Like muzzleloaders myself. TC Hawken will move to the primary rifle role this season. Will only use a center-fire cartridge rifle if weather dictates.

I'm a fan of underhammers. Here's mine, which I acquired back in 2016.
I was amazed at the accuracy of those, for being a black-powder rifle.
We cast our own minie-ball ammo and I even made a thingy so we could drill hollow points. :D
After hitting, they would expand to about 1.5"
Took down lots of deer! :)
.58 mini-ball, 500 grains! :

Imagine it with a 1/8" hole in the end!
