Talking about shooting advices

I was at the range the other day, talking with a new shooter. This guy was enthusiastic and driven, but he was also overwhelmed with “advice” from every uncle and neighbor. It reminded me of the useful bits I got when I was starting out… and some of the junk I wish I could un-hear.

So I'm curious....

What’s the best and the worst shooting advice you’ve ever gotten? And if you could offer some wisdom to a new shooter, what would you share? Let’s get some insights from the experts!

The best piece of advice I ever got was centered on trigger control and follow-through. The worst part was the confusing info coming from too many different sources.. I always tell new shooters to look for good instruction, get a handle on the basics and to disregard most of the unsolicited advice they encounter at the range.

The best advice I ever got was slow is smooth. The worst? Just grip it tighter when I was flinching. Newbies don't need a ton of advice all at once. Find one good teacher and block out the rest. You'll get confident way faster that way
