I used to pick up MOLLE pouches in colors I would never realistically use and accessories with features I did not need. At some point I sat down and asked myself what each item was actually doing for me. I ended up selling about half of it and replacing the rest with simpler, more durable options. Focusing on function instead of appearance sounds obvious but it takes time to really understand it.
 
 I went through a similar gear purge myself. I ended up selling all those multicam pouches that didn’t match anything I actually owned and those silly tactical pens and replaced them with just plain black nylon and a reliable Fisher Space Pen. It seems you usually have to buy a bunch of the wrong gear first to really learn that lesson..
