When it comes to running an optic on a duty or defensive firearm, what dot size and mounting height have you found to be the most reliable over time? Are you still using iron sights in your sight picture, or have you switched to an optic-only setup? Please include your firearm model, the optic you selected, the type of plate or mount system, and any backup sights you have, so others can see what’s been effective for you.

I’m using a Holosun 507C on my Glock 19 Gen 4, attached to a CHPWS plate. This combo has managed to hold zero through classes, different weather conditions and quite a bit of wear and tear. As a backup, I still have some suppressor-height iron sights in the window. I don’t focus on them too much but I appreciate having them there as a point of reference especially when the lighting gets weird or I’m feeling a bit fatigued and the dot starts to blur a little.
