How do you handle wind at long range?

My uncle got me into shooting rifles, and I'm hooked on long-range with my .308 Remington 700. Last weekend, I hit decent groups at 500 yards, but 1,000 yards was a mess cuz wind totally threw me off. My Vortex scope's been solid, but I'm open to other budget options. I'm still learning how to read wind and adjust for bullet drop. It's humbling but fun. How do you handle wind at long range? Also, I would appreciate some affordable scopes suggestions.

Uncle get you on rifles is good that 308 rem 700 at 500 yards makes good groups. Wind mess 1000 is normal but vortex stay good opens more.Wind read with heat waves hit long shots as you said to miss drifts far. Shooters use it main now guess speed from waves on 308 path.Vortex clear beats cheap fog the 4 to 16x vipers go true but razor ones change fast without shake like low cost turns. They set clean on good mounts not weak. You can use 168 grain bullets for flat path in wind but rifles want hold practice. Scopes do not need no wind to group. But wind guess hard early set with charts once waves show right. Bullet heavy counts too 175 grain cuts wind better than light on short tubes or windy spots. So exact 1000 or tight groups. Time fixes. Cheap scope nikon prostaff under 300 dollars good value.
