Been thinking about diving into building my first AR-15 for a while now, and I finally started checking out parts. Honestly, it's a bit overwhelming. I see some decent deals but still trying to wrap my head around what's really worth the money.
I'm aiming for a basic rifle, probably going with 5.56 since I hear that's a good starting point. But maybe there's something else I should consider?
I'm curious about parts brands — are there any I should steer clear of? And what about those sneaky costs that pop up when you're not looking? I definitely don't want to make rookie mistakes.
Part of me wonders if I should just buy a complete rifle instead of trying to build one from scratch. But then again, building sounds like it could be a fun project.
I'd appreciate any advice or lessons learned from you all. What did you wish you knew before starting your first build?
