The choke debate

One guy sticks with modified, another uses improved cylinder and someone else changes chokes constantly based on distance. They all shoot about the same. It turns out fundamentals matter more than the hardware even if nobody wants to admit it.

It depends on what you're shooting...
My KSG came with an open cylinder barrel.
Since it was to be used for personal defense and clays and had a short 16" barrel, I knew it would need a lot of help.
So I got an xtra-full choke...
It's important use was for PD so I test-fired it with 00B.
At 25yds you could cover the the pattern with your hat!! :oops:
I quickly got a modified tube and it had a regular 12" pattern.
I can only wonder what that pattern would look like with no choke tube!

Yeah, at that point it's basically negotiating terms with physics rather than controlling pattern.

That’s a perfect example...gear tweaks matter but testing on paper tells the real story.
