Best 9mm Carry Ammo Recommendations

I’m new to EDC and trying to figure out which 9mm ammo is the best for self-defense. Can anyone share their go-to choices and why they trust them?

I like the 124 gr. Speer gold dots. They have a proven track record.

My SD ammo of choice is Ranger 'T', but they're getting hard to find, and expensive. My go-to these days is HST, but you can't go wrong with Gold Dots, either. I prefer heavy-for-caliber bullets, mostly 147 gr., but will grab up 124's when a good deal presents. I avoid 115 gr. loads, except for casual plinking.

I'd avoid those flashy gimmicks and just go for ammo that meets FBI standards when it comes to penetration and expansion. It's important that your specific firearm can handle it reliably too. It’s a good idea to run a box or two through your carry gun to see if it feeds and cycles smoothly. You definitely want to make sure it’s all good to go.
