I'm kinda partial to the Featherweight as it is easier to carry. But many claim the new Portugese made Model 70 is better than ever. Most folks would disagree, indicating their preference for the pre-64. What do you think???

If you're looking for a rifle that has classic charm with contemporary reliability, you definitely need to check out the newer Model 70s. But for those of you who are collectors or just can't resist the feel of vintage steel and walnut, the pre-'64 models still have a special place in our hearts.

It really all comes down to what matters to you most. Whether you're into heritage, how it feels to drive, or just want top-notch performance, you can't really go wrong with any choice. It's pretty amazing to see how each model has built its own unique story over time.

I guess I was mainly interested in performance. I’m not a collector. Are the new models better than the pre-64 from a performance standpoint?

If you’re all about getting the best accuracy, consistency, and modern features, today’s Winchester rifles, especially those made under FN’s oversight, can really outshine the pre-64 models in quite a few ways.
