Future of compact 9mms

With so many new compact 9mm models hitting the market lately, have manufacturers truly nailed this category, or is there still room for meaningful advancements?

Small 9mms are nice but the recoil still feels snappy in a lot of them. I'm more about being able to shoot well than having the smallest gun. Staying in control when you're stressed is more important than saving a few ounces.

I feel like these rifles are getting close to their limit size-wise, but there’s still room to improve recoil control and reliability. The big breakthroughs have mostly happened.. now it’s about small tweaks.

They’ve basically nailed it now it’s just slimmer and more features nobody asked for but still want.

Have a couple compact 9's but only carry them when concealment is of most importance. I find I can't shoot them well. I prefer a j frame revolver as a pocket gun and actually shoot them more accurately than a compact 9.
