Looking for an affordable tool set for basic home repairs

I’m not looking for anything fancy, just some dependable basics. What do yall suggest for occasional use?

For basic home repairs, I'd suggest getting a starter kit from Craftsman or Husky. Also get a good tape measure and a decent set of screwdrivers and you should be all set.

I’d second Craftsman. Old Sears warranty is being honored by Ace Hdwe. Sales occur often. Been using Craftsman hand tools for 55 years. I avoid their power tools.

A pair of Vise Grip pliers will often come in handy.
