Been thinking about ramen in my prep stash. I get it, not the most nutrient-rich choice, but man, it's cheap, filling, and lasts ages. Got a few cases packed away, but how long do they really stick around after the date? Also, any tips on better storage than just leaving 'em in the box? Anyone have tricks to jazz up ramen for long-term use? They seem to outlast the expiration, right?

What little time I spent in college, every student in the dormitory lived off of ramen noodles.
It worked! We all survived. :)
Don't remember anybody jazzing them up, other than dumping a can of whatever they had on hand onto them.
You'll have to find some people with little-no money for ideas...... because I damsure don't eat them nomore! :ROFLMAO:

I've used them backpacking and back country hunting. I throw the seasoning packet away and use my own. Boil some beef jerky and add other dehydrated veggies , like onions , beans, mushrooms etc. After these have boiled a few minutes then I had noodles.

I know people who have eaten it without cooking it - - they bite into it like crackers.

Oh not me. I'd just as well eat leaves or something, lol. I can't eat everything cold like some of the minimalist and ultra lightweight backpackers do either. I pack a canister stove and titanium cup and bowl. Can make 3 nights in a spring trip with total pack weight of 23-25 lbs. Easy enough for me to carry.
