Zeroing optics

After mounting an optic, what checks do you perform to make sure everything is perfectly intact?

Use fingernail polish on threads and Wheeler torque driver to tighten screws. Have sighted in rifles for 50 years by pulling the bolt and looking through the bore at target and adjusting reticle to center of target. With bore and reticle centered up with target I fire a round and make adjustments.
